3D ultrasoundprovides three dimensional images of the unborn child and of its individual organs and parts of the body. In contrast to the traditional two dimension ultrasound, volumes are registered using specially shaped transducers which allow for completely new insights into pregnancy due to the latest technologies. The 4D scan is a new enhanced method of the 3D ultrasound involving the time as the fourth dimension (spatial representation in combination with movement). These new technologies complete the traditional two dimension scan but do not replace it. 3D ultrasound scanning in its medically relevant application belongs to our ultrasound diagnostic methods.
